One of the inherent problems with social media is other people just don't get it…
Social: of or relating to human society, the interaction of the individual and the group, or the welfare of human beings as members of society
Media: a medium of cultivation, conveyance, or expression
Nowhere in those two definitions does it say connecting with someone online and immediately jumping on messenger to sell them something from someone they don't know, and probably something they don't want or would ever need.
Yet that's what happens all the time. It's called “Connect & Pitch”. And, that one of the major reasons people don't like or spend much time on LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
In this podcast we will examine two bacon knowledge bombs I often share with my presentations.
-
When you contact a prospect… You are a Salesperson. When a prospect contacts you… You are THE Expert!
-
I would rather spend 10 minutes with 10 people who already know me… than 10 seconds with 10,000 people who don’t!
The goal is to get people to know, like, and trust you. Not so you can sell them something, but they call you when they need something and they view you as the expert!
